Pipe Systems Division developed the original Petrofuse pipe system back in 1996.
Since 2000 there has been a growing recognition that most plastic pipe systems used for petrol forecourts eventually leak and pollute the surrounding area. Consequently, many countries are now demanding that pipe systems be twin walled and permit zero-permeation.
Before Pipe Systems Division developed the revolutionary Petrofuse ZP system, the only way to meet these stringent new environmental requirements was to install a twin-walled steel system. The main drawbacks to the steel solution are that it is heavy, difficult to handle on site, and is extremely slow and laborious to install.
Petrofuse ZP is a twin-walled pipe system where polyethylene is extruded over a high-grade aluminium tube. Lengths of Petrofuse ZP are welded using a combination of the patented Bozzle and Fusamatic electrofusion fittings; together these ensure that impermeability and conductivity are maintained across the joint.
Because of the highly specialised nature of the retail petroleum market, Petrofuse ZP is marketed by a separate company, Petrofuse ZP Ltd.
